A good film by some fil-ams, but really too preachy. Particularly when they blatantly point out the realities of the Philippines. We don’t need the play by play about the misery there. and the notion of adding his drama between him and his girlfriend in the film was just out of place. i mean, the film is about a guy whose family gets kidnapped, why add a lovers quarrel into this film?
The shaky hand-held can be a bit vomit inducing. It reminded me of when I saw blair witch at the theater. I felt like puking after seeing blair witch on the big screen (not because I didn’t like it; I did. It was just that motion sickness that got to me). So, in that respect im glad I watched in on the television, because I got a headache after a while.
But I admire the guerilla aspect of the film. (At least the making of the film was guerilla-like). |
