zhang is my favorite chinese director (mainland). the stories and settings of his films, if others would do them, i probably wouldnt like, but zhang does it right. i mean, if you think about it, the screenplay to this must be pretty boring, but he makes it such that you are captured by the film. he is one the great living directors (although i havent seen his recent ones). |
