a portrait of crumb, and his family as well. crumb comes off as disturbed to me; he laughs this almost uncomfortable laugh, like he doesnt know how else to respond to something, whether positive or negative, and all he can do is this laugh. but as a portrait of the artist, it works well. not your typical doc, and it reminds me of another portrait film: meeting people is easy. although very different in style to meeting people, it is similar in so much as it is not your standard biopic as many music films are. very eerie in retrospect, too SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER with the updates to the cast END SPOILER END SPOILER END SPOILER |
