i am becoming a fan of bujalski's. i like this a lot more than funny ha ha, but im not quite as floored by it. so i cant say it s a better film than his first feature, but it certainly is more accessible and enjoyable for me.

i just like the portrait of youth here.  although i related more to his first featue, i guess enjoyed this one more.  the music itself (something completely missing from funny ha ha) is nothing special. most of the songs actually i dont like. which i think is a tribute to this film, because i liked it even if the music itself wasnt anything id personally gravitate towards (with the exception of one of the songs).  bujalski s films just dont feel manufactured

i read somewhere that at the time bujalski was making this, he was still a substitute teacher. its admirable, particularly this day and age, that real artists continue to make art while holding another job. cant say this for everyone out there. you make art with what you have, not with what you dont have
