haskell wexler is credited to have said that he could have made any film he shot better than what the actual director did. im not sure about that, but this could have definitely been made better. it was ok, but dated. but the score, not the way i would have done it if i were to make this kind of film. but it's cool, i mean, you have to give it props for what it is. and considering the era it was made in and the environment, perhaps this was as true as it could have been anyway.

anyway, i think older films are totally over-scored. but this one, not that it's over-scored, but at times the score just didn't feel right.

SPOILER SPOILER virgil has a lot of energy, considering what he did on little to no sleep and a round of drinks. i guess it was just luck that he found the guilty party when he was trying to prove sam wood's innocence. END SPOILER END SPOILER
