From the title, I expected something more along the lines of before sunrise, or something with lots of angst. But I was surprised when the main story line emerged - that of a man and his attempts to see his son. I wonder if this is what the title is when it really is translated to English.
I didn’t particularly like the score, and considering the other films of Wang Xiaoshuai, I don’t really the way he scores any of the films of his that I’ve seen (the others being Beijing bicycle and so close to paradise).
So close to paradise I didn’t really like (although I do like the final shot of the film). Beijing bicycle I love. And now this film, which I liked for the most part. I was pretty bored with the story about trying to get into another country. But the story about the guy and his son, that was good. |
